This will be the final podcast episode of Starlight Radio Dreams for the time being. The crew here at SRD are incredibly proud of the work we’ve done over the course of the pandemic. Since October 2020, it's been just Ansel, Jared, and Kat at the helm of the good ship SRD. Although we are no longer able to maintain our pace of production, we are deeply grateful to our Patreon backers and subscribers as well as the cast members, guests, and other artists who have been instrumental in keeping these radio dreams afloat.
It is tough to say goodbye. We leave you with the pluckiness of Sam Spruce, wondering what beautiful opportunities tomorrow will bring. Please keep your eyes on this space for more information about what comes next. In the meantime, Keep Laughing and Keep Dreaming.
For many outlets, the end of the year is a time to be bedecked with holly, evergreen, and the scent of baking spices. At SRD, we prefer to buck tradition and go to the alternate extreme. We’ve forbidden our host, Burlington Showtime, from mentioning any holiday for the duration. That means President’s Day, International Kiss a Puppy Day, and the Fourth of July are all off-limits. Can he make it? You’ll have to tune in to find out. On top of torturing a Hollywood Q-lister, we’re also bringing you a new, fantastical episode of Sam Spruce and all the murder, hauntings, folktales, and Christmas elves (don’t tell Burlington) you’ve come to expect from our madcap team.

It has been said the times are rarely precedented and this was just as true in the holiday season of 2021 as it is now. Was this bit originally aired in December. Yes. Is it still hilarious? Yes, again. Bet on it.

Once upon a time, a little wooden boy ventured out into the snowy wood. As should be no surprise to anyone, this works out poorly in the short term but well in the long term. How will he survive? What sorts of dangers and people will he meet? There, my friends, lies a story.

This is our final short from Cassandra Rose for a while. * Gasp! * We know. Shocking, right? We’re so thrilled for her and the company that had the good judgement to hire her for an amazing, time-consuming job. That said, it’s appropriate to have a revelation to present for you to whet your appetite for this piece.

It’s a very special day when you can buy a mattress or dining set from a founding father and, luckily for residents of the United States, that occasion comes around once each year. It’s no running of the bulls but as silly traditions go, this one fits.

Some stories are too good to be true but so good we’re willing to let go of verity in favor of our own happiness. These legends can take hold of the hearts of a nation, becoming part of the very fabric of its identity. Some of them are just bullshit though. We should probably do something about that.

Back when it was the fashion, we leaned hard into the Halloween season. That meant featuring characters from some of history’s favorite Halloween costume traditions: poltergeists, cryptids butterflies and Basil Rathbones aplenty! Not only that but we sent our host to a collection of carefully curated hells.

If you ever have questions about the afterlife, you’re in the right place. We have the best luck with ghost hunters managing to actually touch the other side or at least having the other side touch them. Sometimes, even paranormal investigators should be careful wat they wish for.

What a time to be alive when thousands of people can ignore you all at once and forever. It’s all the rage for our age. Chances are good you’re not reading these words right now thanks to the void we shouted it into. If you’ve ever felt like throwing all of your work into a big black hole in hopes that one or two people will press a button to give you some serotonin, boy is this the comedy short for you!

Popular culture since 1891 just wouldn’t be quite as popular or as cultured without the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, specifically the one which are now in the public domain and fair for plebs like us to use with abandon. So, please enjoy this mixing of cultured, highbrow literature with time travel silliness and social commentary. Stay tuned for part 2 as, legally speaking, there’s nothing to stop us from doing it again.

It is a fact universally acknowledged that going to a ball leads to drama and just as society today can’t get enough of the Bachelor, it seems the drama between Lady Bucksley and Lord Grishenwald was just as gripping. Will they? Won’t they? Either way, the local set are sure to be watching keenly!

Shoot for the stars we said. Perhaps we never thought anyone would actually follow through on that as a literal life goal. Yet, the number of people with holiday snapshots from beyond the von Karman line is growing already. In this fantasy short about aliens, that is. What an awful signifier of the wealth equalities present in this fictional world private space travel is…

We’ve all been there. The best thing for us is often right in front of our faces but we don’t have the sense to see it. Look at grilled cheese? When was the last time you had one of those? Opportunities missed, every one. Can Elizabeth help save Chloe from the curse of missing the satisfaction of an opportunity that’s right in front of her? Find out in this lovely new short!

This spectacular monologue come to us from the Fluffy Foods Network which licensed this piece and this piece only out to ours. Why might they have done that? There’s no telling but we think you’ll agree that there are only a few things more precious in the mind of the average American than pineapple upside down cake and the Fourth of July. We think that this short is likely to remind you of at least one thing that should be right there on the top of your own list of things to hold dear.

We all have our demons. This sketch does too. They’re just pretty literal. You know, super literal. We figure that might actually be a little bit nice if you’re feeling overwhelmed by all the figurative stuff going on all over the place.
Also, if you’re checking this out on release day, happy American Thanksgiving. It’s a complicated holiday but it comes with pie. The Production Team of Starlight Radio Dreams would like to acknowledge that the land on which we live and do our work is occupied land unceded by the Council of the Three Fires: the Ojibwe, Odawa, and Potawatomi Nations. Many other tribes such as the Miami, Ho-Chunk, Menominee, Sac, and Fox also called this area home. Their losses and the cost of our current state are too great to be appreciated fully. Let us gather mindful of this debt.
